The Watts Towers

The Watts Towers in Los Angeles, California, are a grouping of 17 interconnected structures made from ceramic tiles, pipes, broken bottles and shells. Two of the tallest towers stand just under 100 feet (30 m) tall.

An Italian immigrant construction worker named Sabato Rodia built the towers over a period of 33 years (Rodia worked on them in his backyard during his spare time). Recently the towers’ future has been threatened by budget cuts and a dwindling number of visitors. If you’re in LA, be sure to stop by the Towers and help keep them afloat!
